Samantha Nickell Justice Sagraves, daughter of Alexander Washington Nickell and Katherine Jayne Salyer, was first married to Edmond Justice with whom she had four children: Samuel Alexander, William Sherman, James, and Mary C. Edmond was a Civil War veteran and died in 1871 before their last child was born. When Samantha and Greenville came together, the children went to live with their Justice grandparents.

Greenville and Samantha had five children together: Almedia, John, Sarah, Thomas J. (Jeff) and Maud. She is buried in the cemetery at Whitehouse, KY.
