Ralph Basil was born in Anne Arundel County, Maryland in 1678. He was the son of Ralph and Mary Basil (1650-1698). At this time, we don't know what his mother's last name was.

Ralph married Rose Hopper (1679-) at Anne Arundel County, MD in All Hallows Parish on Sept. 23, 1697. Ralph was 19 years old. Rose Hopper was the daughter of Charles and Ann Hopper. Don't know her mother's last name. Ralph was baptized at All Hallows Parish in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on Jan. 22, 1698.

Ralph and Rose Basil were parents of 10 known children. Ruth (1698), Robert (1699), John (1700), Ralph (1702-1702), Mary (1706), Elizabeth (1709), Sarah (1711), James (1714), Susanna (1716) and Joseph (1721). Some call this last name Basil, and some call it Bazewell, but the first names, dates and places agree.

Like many colonial planters, Ralph Basil was involved in a number of land transactions. Ralph Basil was a carpenter.
