Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Berkedal, 55, of 1310 N. 16th St., Manitowoc, died
unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
The Revs. Bruce Hanstedt and Richard Lind will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Berkedal was born July 14, 1925, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Delmar
and Vera Pfefferkorn Hansen. She attended schools in Manitowoc, graduating from
Lincoln High School in 1943, and attending Park College in Parksville, Mo. She
was married to Robert Berkedal June 22, 1947, at Manitowoc. The couple resided
here all their lives. Mrs. Berkedal was a member of First Lutheran Church and
Chancel Choir for 33 years, the church women's organization, and was very active
in A.F.S. She was also a member of Monday Music and was on the board of Community
Concert and Manitowoc Civic Music. She taught vocal lessons for a number of years
and was past honored queen of Jobes Daughters Bethel No. 11.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and two daughters-in-law, the Rev.
David J. Berkedal of Compton, Calif., Jon G. and Carla Berkedal of Seattle, Wash.,
and Thomas R. and Laurie Berkedal of LaCrosse, Wis.; a daughter and son-in-law,
Bonnie and Ron Jaastad of Winona, Minn.; a step-mother, Mrs. Delmar (Grace) Hansen
of Manitowoc; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and David Metheny of Lees Summit,
Mo.; two grandsons, a granddaughter (private), cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock this
Thursday evening and at the church Friday from noon until the time of serces.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Compton, Calif.; First Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc; and Lincoln High School Vocal Musical Scholarship Fund.
