Mrs. Eldred (Sheriff) Bergner, age 78, of 613 North 7th Street, Manitowoc, died
Thursday evening, October 24, 1991, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral
Home and 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. William Zimmer
officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
Born Alice Mary Lohse on May 17, 1913 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Albert
and Frances Muench, she resided in Manitowoc all her life, attended Manitowoc
schools, and was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the Class of 1930. She
had been employed at the Schmidtman Company until 1959 and then at United Savings
and Loan until her retirement. She was married to David W. Handel in 1936. He
preceded her in death on January 10, 1959. She was then married to Eldred (Sheriff)
Bergner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on May 5, 1962.
Survivors include her husband, Eldred (Sheriff), two sisters and a brother-in-law,
Evelyn Lohse of Manitowoc, Margaret and Ray Waak also of Manitowoc; a brother and
sister-in-law, Reine and Lois Lohse of Ft. Worth, Texas; also surviving are four
nephews.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
