EDWARD M. BENISHEK

Edward M. Benishek, 79, of Maribel, president of Maribel State Bank, died
Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melnik Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Charles R. Freuden will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post of Cato.
Mr. Benishek was born Jan. 23, 1894, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of
the late Frank and Emma Strouf Benishek. He was graduated from the former
Manitowoc County Normal and the Ferris Institute of Grand Rapids, Mich. He
was in the military service during World War I, serving in France. He married
Ellen Oestreich Sept. 8, 1923, at Manitowoc, celebrating their golden wedding
anniversary in September of 1973. Mr. Benishek was employed in banks at Green
Bay and Manitowoc prior to his employment at Maribel State Bank. He was
president of the bank and has been employed at the bank for more than 50
years.
He was on the board of directors of Shady Lane Home of Manitowoc since its
organization and was the present treasurer of the board. He was a member of
Melnik Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge NO. 65, F. & A.M., of Manitowoc,
Maribel Sportsman's Club, Western 114 of Rosencrans, Maribel Fire Dept. of
which he was a former officer, Manitowoc County Bankers Assn, Drew-Bleser
American Legion Post No. 88 of Manitowoc, of which he was a former commander,
40 et 8 of Manitowoc, World War I Veterans of Manitowoc and the Kubale-O'Connell
VFW Post 6179 of Cato.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles E. of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs.
Edward (Ellen J.) Looker, of Maribel and Miss Doris Benishek, at home; two
brothers, Emil, of Manitowoc and Charles, of New Salem, N.D.; two sisters, Mrs.
Eleanor Nemetz, of Manitowoc and Mrs. Ben (Emily) Delsmann, of Rockwood; and
seven grandchildren. Three brothers and and infant sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, after 4 p.m. Friday and
until 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials to the Melnik Presbyterian Church may be
made.
