ELAINE FRIEDA BELGUM

Elaine F. Belgum passed away at her home in Chatsworth, Calif., on Wednesday,
March 11, 1998, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's Presbyterian
Church, 20121 Devonshire St., Chatsworth, Calif.,, on Friday, March 20, 1998.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Elaine F. Jahn was born July 9, 1921, in LaCrosse, Wis. She attended
LaCrosse Public Schools and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse
with a BA in Education. She received her Masters degree in Special Education
from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee. Mrs. Belgum played an active role
in the development at the University of the St. Francis Children's Activity and
Achievement Center, where she was devoted to the teaching of brain injured
children. Early in her career, Mrs. Belgum taught in the public schools in
Manitowoc and the Milwaukee area before moving to California in 1975. She joined
the faculty of Egremont School in Chatsworth, retiring in 1989. Mrs. Belgum was
an active member of the Newcomers Club, the Granada Hills Women's Club, and the
Northridge Women's Club, where she served as Treasurer and President.
Elaine is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Catherine Bohte,
Greenfield, Wis., and Nancy Schmidt, Simi Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren,
Matthew and Jaime Bohte, and Nicholas and Reece Schmidt.
She will be greatly missed and eternally remembered by her grieving family and
friends.
The Jens Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
