Oscar H. Becker Is Heart Victim
Stricken with a heart attack Saturday night, Oscar H. Becker, 72, retired
superintendent of Plant No. 2 of the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company
here with which firm he had been an employe for 51 years, died at 6:40 p.m.
Monday at the Emergency Hospital at Milwaukee.
Mr. and Mrs. Becker, who formerly lived at 2208 Waldo Blvd., had been visiting
for the past month with the daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Molliter at 3322 S. Taylor
St., Milwaukee, after spending eight months with another daughter at Vista,
Cal. They had planned to return to Manitowoc to take up their residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Beduhn, Deja & Martin
Inc., Funeral Home at Two Rivers, the Rev. R.J. Wichlei, pastor of Grace
Congregational Church, Two Rivers, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen
Cemetery here.
Oscar Becker was born in Two Rivers in 1881, a son of the late Jacob and Amelia
Schwab Becker. Attending public schools in Two Rivers, operated by the late
Joseph Koenig. While he was still in his teens he moved to Manitowoc where he
became an employe of the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company, where he served
as a foreman and later as assistant superintendent and superintendent of Plant
No. 2 for many years. He retired Jan. 1, 1948.
He was a member of the 25 Year Club of the Company.
Active in affairs of the Manitowoc Aerie of Eagles up to a few years ago, Mr.
Becker was also a veteran member of the Pioneers’ Club here.
He is survived by his wife, the former Clara Holsen of Manitwoc; two daughters,
Mrs. Molliter of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Wilma Staeffler of Vista, Cal.; and a
brother, Robert Becker, a retired newspaper compositor at Milwaukee; and a
grandchild.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday until the time of
services.
