Orville A. Becker, age 63, of 134 Riverview Drive, Manitowoc, died Wednesday
evening, July 31, 2002, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Bethany Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Robert Kujawski
and the Rev. Stephen Melso, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born March 31, 1939, in Cooperstown, son of Louise Kluenker Kempfert and the
late Orville H. Becker. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Orville
earned an Associate degree from MATC in Milwaukee and also served in the National Guard.
On Sept. 1, 1973, he married the former Sharon Basel in Baldwin, Wis. Orville was an
independent contract carrier with the Herald Times Reporter. He was a member of Bethany
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife: Sharon Becker; a daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Mike
Balaban; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Dave and Tonya Walesh and Steve Becker, all
of Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Jacob, Taylor and Emily; his mother, Louise Kempfert,
Manitowoc; two sisters and a brother-in-law: LouAnne Thoni, Janesville; Karen and Dallas
Behnke, Sheboygan Falls; and a brother and sister-in-law: Don and Theresa Becker, Waukesha.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in
death by a brother-in-law: John Thoni.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc, from noon on Monday until the time of service at 2 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
Orville was a very compassionate person and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
