ELIZABETH JANE BEBOW

Mrs. John (Elizabeth "Bette") Bebow, age 70, of 1829 Belmont Street, Manitowoc,
died Tuesday morning, March 21, 2000, at the family residence.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2000, at Redeemer Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Richard Miller will officiate, with burial at Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born March 3, 1930, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and Laura
Hanson Rathsack. Mrs. Bebow graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of
1948. She was employed with Manitowoc engineering (sic) Company from 1949 to 1957
and then for 17 years, she was employed until her retirement with Montgomery Ward.
On February 26, 1949, she married John Bebow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. Bette was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and faithfully taught
Sunday School at the church for many years. She loved all the children she taught
and tried to inspire them to live a life pleasing to Jesus. She was also a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #659 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, John; one daughter and son-in-law, John J. (Jack)
and Rebecca Bebow, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; two grandsons, Karl and David
Stoeger; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Elizabeth Bebow; very special sisters-in-
law and brothers-in-law, Liz and Lloyd Karbon, Esther Rathscak, who has been like a
mother to Bette throughout her life, Myrtle Post, Joyce and Earl Jansen; brother-in-
law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Elaine Bebow; nieces, nephews, along with other
relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Rathsack,
Sr., Robert Rathsack, Joseph Rathsack and Sterling (Mike) Rathsack and also one
sister, Lucille Peterson.
Friends may call at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time
of services at 11 a.m.
Bette loved to laugh and have fun. She was always smiling and kept her sense of humor
throughout her illness. She touched many lives in many different ways. She will be
missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bette wanted to especially thank the following people who helped her throughout her
illness which include Ruth Van Haren, Bonnie and Brad Schultz, Colleen Denk, Carla
and Bob Gregrich, Michelle and Jim Zinke, Liz and Lloyd Karbon, Lyndon Pearson, Viola
Perason and Dr. Thomas Rauschenberger and staff at Manitowoc Family Practice. She
would also like to thank all those who said special prayers or made her final days
more pleasant in any way.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
