RICHARD G. BEATON

Richard G. Beaton, age 91, a Manitowoc resident, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Mequon Care Center, Mequon.
Memorial Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Manitowoc, with the Rev. William B. Plank officiating and Masonic Rites with Past Worshipful Master Kenneth Beck officiating.
Richard was born Jan. 3, 1910 at Two Rivers, Wis., son of the late George R. and Ella Awehausen Beaton. He grew up and was educated in Two Rivers and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1927. He was employed at Mirro Aluminum for many years retiring in 1972 as plant manager. Richard was married to Doris Ruth Plantico on Sept. 14, 1937 at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. Doris preceded him in death in April of 1976. He then married Betty Jane Potter-Jones on Jan. 16, 1981 in Zephyr Hills, Florida.
Richard was a past member of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc and the Mens Club and served on teh Session. He had membership in Manitowoc Lodge 365, F. & A.M.; Manitowoc Chapter 316, R.A.M.; Manitowoc Commandery #45 K.T.; Manitowoc Council #18 R. & S.M. Tripoli Shrine Temple, Milwaukee and the Two Rivers Shrine Club; past worshipful Master of the Manitowoc Lodge 365, F. & A.M.; and in the past was active in the DeMolay youth movement of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Jane, Manitowoc, a daughter and son-in-law: Mary Ellen (Dr. David A.) Sampe, Mequon; two grandchildren: Pamela (Keehin) Powell, Charlotte, N.C.; David R. (Alisa) Sample, Mequon; two great-grandchildren: Madison Powell and Kieran Powell; a brother: George (Bernece) Beaton, Sheboygan; two sisters; Edna Mae (Walter) Haase, Sheboygan; Ruth (Dan) Youra, Tucson, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Richard was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Beaton and Katherine Simino.
Relatives and Friends may call from noon on Thursday at Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory until the time of services at 1 p.m.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials to the Shriners Hospital or Wisconsin Parkinson Association would be appreciated. E-mail letters of condolence may also be sent to the Beaton Family c/o Jens Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc at [email protected] .
