Alice was born in Elk River to Clifford and Anna Brechner Meyers. She was raised on the family farm. She married Alvin Alferness on Dec 23, 1937 at the Elk River Union Church. After their marriage, they farmed 2 years near Zimmerman, then moved to Blue Hill Township, where then continued in the farming business. Alvin passed December 23, 1947, on their 10th wedding anniversary. Alice moved her family to Princeton, where she was employed by Fingerhut, the Arsenal and Federal Cartridge. In 1959, she moved to Anoka. She retired from Federal, in 1981, after 25 years. Later returned to live in Princeton. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka, and a league bowler. She volunteered at Anoka State Hospital.
She was survived by 5 sons, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.She was preceded by a sister and an infant son.See St Cloud Times October 23, 1998, page 8 for complete obituary.
