She was born June 5, 1924, in Adair, the daughter of John "Doc" and Dell Bollinger Winston. She married Donald E. Ryan in 1943; he died in 1979. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Lillie Mae Schwalb.
Mrs. Ryan was a civilian supply clerk at Camp Lincoln for the National Guard for 24 years, retiring in 1985. She was employed part-time at the state Department of Revenue for several years. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Melinda Ann) Barton of Taylorville and Patricia Ryan of New Berlin; two sons, Ron of Mount Olive and Gary of Edinburg; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hollis (Evelyn) Yordy of Divernon and Mrs. Medill (Helen) Paluska of Waverly.
