On Saturday, July 21, 2012, Jerry lost his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of passing.

He was a Corporal in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masons & American Legion Post 28.

Jerry loved to sing and paint (landscapes, animals and portraits) for family and friends; used his many skills as a carver, finish carpenter and ability to "fix things" for family and neighbors.

Jerry had a great capacity for love, and "adopted" others into our family as a matter of course. Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.

Survived by his wife, Vicki; ex-wife, Sally; daughters and son-in laws: Robin and Jack Newberry, Stephanie and Richard Goughnour and Michelle and Frank Kelly; ten grandchildren, Newberry: Cody and Jennifer; Goughnour: Ricky and Lindsey, Clifford and Sheena, George and Summer, and Andy and Lisa (Blomker); Kelly: William and Marisa (Scott), Makayla and Frank A; eight great grandchildren; and "adopted" children and grandchildren: Lisa and Brett Posten, Mike and Pam Tittle and daughters Brianna and Sara, and Mike Grevell; Robertson: Melanie Kitter and Shelly Jehlen; sister-in-laws: Kay Breen, Judy Jhung and Linda Shrum; brother in-law Clark and Theresa Maclam; several nieces and nephews and was particularly close to his nephew and his wife Jim and Donna Nelson. We had many others we drew into our family, but too many to list.

Preceded in death by his parents: John M and Iva (Riley) Shrum; five sisters and three brothers, He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Jerry also donated paintings to the American Legion and others for fundraisers. He believed strongly in the Military and did volunteer work for the VA in Idaho. Our deepest thanks to the VA and Hospice for their support and help during his illness.

Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 27 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery(meet at gates no later than 1 p.m.) Celebration of Life potluck: 5 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at American Legion Post 28, 7001 Brayton Dr. Published in adn.com from July 26 to July 27, 2012
