Eldridge L. Abbott came to Manitowoc, WI in 1836. He was one of three men that stayed in Manitowoc that first winter of 1836-7. Acted as scout in Indian troubles in 1842. One of the Commissioners to lay out Green Bay road to Fond du lac in 1846. Constable in the 40s. One of the first I.O.O.F. in county in 1851. School Commissioner 1844. Judge of Elections in Manitowoc, Manitowoc Precinct 1841.

Moved to Royalton, Berrien County, Michigan in 1858.
