-Sarah M. Pease b. abt 1836 (m. William H. Monroe, d. 1902 in Danversport, Mass)

Mary Smith (b. 1813, dau of Ebenezer and Mary (Hulsart) Smith) of Edgartown, Oct. 11, 1834

John Morse was a wealthy ship owner. In 1841, in the "Report of the Commissioner of Fish and Fisheres," are recorded two of his vessels:
"Rhine" 174 ton bark, captained by Morse
"York: 434 ton ship, captained by Pease
John died of dropsy in Paita, Peru, while on a whaling voyage aboard the bark "Sarah."
His widow Mary appears on the 1860 Census in Edgartown with children: James L and John O, Jr., both mariners, and Jennie (Jane Ann) and Josiah in her household.
