Florence was born and raised and lived her life at Shaws Crossroads. The home of her adulthood is still inhabited today at the northwest corner of the crossroads of Brewington Road and the Mayesville highway. Her son, "Bill" William Shaw Shuler & his wife, Bunnie Brogdon Shuler live nearby.
Florence graduated in the Sumter High School class of 1912 (see the on-line Sumter newspaper, The Watchman and Southron, June 01, 1912, Image 1) & below. There is a group photo on her memorial which is thought to be her class at Greenville Women's College (now Furman U.), and she is circled on end (to viewer's right) of second row.
