Mrs. Catherine Larue Butler, 86, of 309 Bucher John Road, Union Bridge, died Monday, Nov. 26, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 27, 1915, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of the late Lilly Mae Brightful.

She was the wife of Wilbur Stanley Butler, who died in 1994.

She was a member of Strawbridge United Methodist Church, New Windsor, and a member of United Methodist Women.

She was formerly employed for many years as a nurse's aide at Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville.

She was a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and spending time with her family.

Surviving are four daughters, Barbara Carroll and husband Melvin Jr., and Virginia Duppins and husband Preston Sr., all of Union Bridge, Brenda Sappington of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Sandra Hooper of Frederick; two sons, Wilbur S. Butler Jr. of Union Bridge, and LaVane Butler of Taneytown; one sister-in-law, Mary Butler of Frederick; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Brightful, and Earl and Samuel Butler.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, with her pastor, the Rev. Gertie Williams, officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
