He purchased 160 acres of land and married May 5 1803 Lydia Lyman who was born in Coventry Connecticut 28 Jul 1780. In 1852 after a residence of more than 50 years in Deerfield, they moved to Wisconsin where the evening of thier lives was spent, and where Mrs Ely died in the town of Brandon 16 Jan 1857."
