WILLIAM RALSTON was a native of Virginia, enlisted there when young, was present at the surrender of Cornwallis; he removed to Kentucky, and in 1828, came to Gardner township, Sangamon county, Illinois. He died in 1835, and is buried in the Morgan cemetery, Gardner township. The marker is actually placed on the gravesite of his grandson, John Henry Ralston. The actual gravesite of William is unmarked, the gravestone is probably missing.
