fHaving had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ all his life, Fred Roberts Pryor Jr. crossed through the veil to meet his parents Amanda Ethel Price and Fred Roberts Pryor (who died before his birth), all seven of his brothers and sisters, his first wife Margaret and their son Robert.

Fred was born February 12, 1920 in Minersville, Utah where he grew-up. In 1940 Fred was called to serve in the Western States Mission. In 1942 he married Margaret Nielsen. Shortly thereafter Fred enlisted in the army, and served for four years, which included a tour of duty in Europe during World War II. In 1948 while attending Utah State University Margaret died giving birth to their only son Robert Allen Pryor. In 1948 he married Ellen Harris, from Beaver, Utah, who blessed his life for 63 years.

Fred graduated from Utah State University in 1949 and taught photography at the college for five years. When that department was cut from the curriculum Fred moved his young family to Utah Valley where he taught for 27 years at Timpanogos, Grovecrest and Windsor Elementary schools. He also worked part-time for the Uinta National Forest service. Fred's hobbies included woodworking, photography and gardening.

After his retirement Fred and Ellen served in the Chicago, Illinois mission microfilming US naturalization records. They also served as ordinance workers in the Provo, and Mt Timpanogos LDS temples for 11 years.

Fred is survived by his wife Ellen Harris Pryor and their 6 children, Dorothy (Steve) Sheffield, St George, UT; David Pryor, Hillsboro OR; Keith (Kristine) Pryor, South Jordan UT; Barbara (Mark) Hale Draper UT; Carolyn (Doug) Cronquist, Singapore Asia; and Gary (Sheryl) Pryor, Orem UT; their 24 grandchildren and 36 [11/8/09] great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, as well as prior to the services from 11:30-12:45 at the Stake center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28 at 1:00 PM at the Orem Utah North Stake center, 1000 North Main. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
