Soviet General who was commander of the Chief of the Soviet Armed Forces' General Staff from 1948 to 1952.

During World War Two, he served on the Front and as personally assistant to Joseph Stalin like escorting him to the Tehran Conference.

After the Germans surrendered, Shtemenko was among the organizers of the Victory Parade.

During the Cold War, he fell from the Soviet grace by being demoted after leaving the Soviet Armed Forces' General Staff. But he slowly regained his status in the 1960's.

Sergei Matveevich Shtemenko passed away in 1976.
