A 50-year-old Enid woman was killed Wednesday morning while delivering newspapers for the Enid News & Eagle.

Deanna Kay Foster was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7 a.m. single-vehicle rollover on Lake Hellums Road, a half mile east of U.S. 81.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Foster was westbound on Lake Hellums when her 2004 Chevy Blazer left the road to the right for an unknown reason. She attempted to return to the roadway and overcorrected, which caused the SUV to go into a yaw and roll one time, coming to rest in the south ditch. Foster was ejected from the vehicle.

The report lists the cause of the accident as "unsafe speed — exceeding legal limit" and the condition of the driver as unknown.

Foster had been an independent contractor carrier for the News & Eagle since February 2008, Publisher Jeff Funk said. She most recently has been delivering about 300 newspapers early each morning to subscribers in most rural areas north and northeast of Enid
