"On Wednesday October 23rd, 1907, at her late home at Pultneyville, Wayne county, N. Y. occurred the death of Mrs. Laura Carr Beardsley, daughter of the late Ephraim and Sally (Todd) Carr, after a very brief illness. Born July 23rd, 1820, at the old Carr homestead, one mile west of this place, her early life was spent in this vicinity, United in marriage with the late David S. Beardsley, M. D., November 24th, 1841, they located at Pultnevville, in 1845, where she has since resided, except, when in the last few years she has spent several weeks at a time with relatives in the neighborhood of Toddsville. She was the last surviving member of a family of eleven, children, a sister of the late Chester H. Carr and the late Edwin L. Carr. Mrs. Beardsley was present at the Carr-Todd reunion held at her old home July 31st last, and told of the building of the present stone house in 1825, how she taught school at Toddsville in 1838, and many other interesting recollections of early days. A nephew, Cuyler E. Carr of Milford was with her during her last illness and accompanied the remains to the home of his mother, Mrs. Chester H. Carr, where the funeral obsequies were held Saturday, October: 26th, The Rev. Sidney Conger of Cooperstown, officiating Interment at Flycreek.—Our Toddsville Reporter."
