Forrest Sylvester "Babe" Kline, 82, died at 1:19 PM Sunday [Jan. 11, 1976] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, following two years of ill-health. Born at Clay City, he moved to Lafayette as a teenager. He married Gertrude Tjepkema on June 29, 1916, in Lafayette; she died in 1967.

Mr. Kline had been a switchman and yard foreman for the old Wabash Railroad over 50 years, retiring in 1965. He was a 50-year member of F&AM Lodge 123, Lafayette Commandery 3, and Order of Eastern Star Hope Chapter 5. He was also a member of the Interstate Association of Retired Railway Employees and United Transportation Union.

Surviving are two sons, Forrest Sylvester "Bud" Kline, Jr. of San Diego, CA, and Charles R. Kline of Lafayette; one daughter, Helen Gertrude (Mrs. Daniel) Heindel of San Diego; one brother, Paul Kline of Monona, WI; one sister, Mrs. Inez Ley of Clay City; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
