Cause of Death: Murdered. Stabbed to death 1 o'clock Sunday morning by Robert Ducrest born about 1899. Main artery of left aorta was severed. He died instantly.

Was the father of 3 small children.

Excerpt from obit: "....The feeling engendered at the killing of Johnny Carroll by a negro, early Sunday morning and the riot Sunday night in which a negro congregation was stoned from its church, the church burned, and the members of the race stoned and beaten whenever they were caught out of doors had died down but little despite the passing of 36 hours that allowed cooler heads to think over the situation....."

He was a local boxer.
