Mrs. Betty Jane Barton Gramling, 93, passed away August 26 at the home of her daughter in Mount Airy NC. Betty was born March 13, 1922, in Seneca, SC, to the late Charles Wilson and Jennie Roberts Harper. Mrs. Gramling was a retired switch board operator for Oconee Memorial Hospital. She loved animals, traveling, music and dancing, and was a member of St. Mark UMC in Seneca, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Samuel Leo Barton, two sons in law, Walter Frank and Jimmy Lowry, five siblings, Oliver, Emma, Wilson, Dick, and infant brother Jeptha. Betty leaves to cherish her memory; three daughters; Marilyn Frank, San Diego, CA, Martha and her husband Bennie Leonard, Southern Pines, NC, and Sylvia Lowry of the home; three grandchildren, Roy Titus, Cle Elum, WA, Sam Frank, San Diego, CA, and Jennie Lowry and her husband Rick Caudill of Mount Airy, NC; and five great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Clayton Titus, Cle Elum, WA, and James, Madeline, and Rickie Caudill of Mount Airy, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Betty's caregivers; Jan Atkins, Tammy Card, Carlene Creed, Becky Davis, Christine Mabe, Jill Simpson, and Jeannie Tobler. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will follow at a later date at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
