Lois Jean McCaslin, age 86, died on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at Sunrise Creek Senior Living Community in Montrose, Colo. Lois Jean Tobin was born in Montrose on Dec. 20, 1923, the daughter of Francis T. and Bertha L. (Bishop) Tobin. She spent her childhood in Montrose, attended Oak Grove School for eight years and graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1941. She attended Ross Business School in Grand Junction, Colo. Her first job after business school was for the county clerk in Montrose. Later, she was a city clerk in Montrose for about one year. In California, she was secretary to Ted Lawson, author of "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo," where she met her ex-husband. After moving back to Montrose in July 1966, she went to work at Colorado-Ute Electric Association (Tri-State) where she worked until January 1987 when she retired. Mrs. McCaslin was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Montrose, the Kappa Phi Association, and planned the out-of-town Colorado-Ute meetings and social events. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and her grandchildren, as well as knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, playing piano and family get-to-gethers. She was married on Sept. 22, 1945, in California, to Glen D. McCaslin. The marriage ended in divorce.

Surviving Lois are children, Ronald (Beth) McCaslin of Montrose, Jeani (Allan) Bork of Loveland, Colo., and Michael McCaslin of Montrose; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Lennea) Tobin of Prescott, Ariz., and Dean Tobin of Montrose; sisters, Eileen Quint of Montrose and Joan Blair of Arnold, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Timothy McCaslin (#84869763), and one infant son.

A Funeral Mass in celebration of Lois McCaslin's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Cedar Cemetery, in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose.
