Kate Hardin was born on Jan. 1, 1766 at Washington County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hardin (1739-1816) and Sarah Hardin (1743-1826).

Kate Hardin married Nestor Hardin (1759-1839) on March 2, 1799 in Virginia. Nestor was the son of Capt. John Hardin (1733-1804) and Isabella (Strawbridge) Hardin (1733-1814). This couple had 11 children: Benjamin Hardin, Mary Ann Hardin, Sarah Hardin (1789-1816), Absolom Hardin (1790-1850), Isobel Hardin (1791-), Alicy Hardin (1795-), Hannah Hardin (-1853), Lydia Hardin (1804-1849), Nestor Hardin Jr. (1806-1886) Catherine Hardin (1808-) and Agnes Hardin (1810-1873).

Mary Ann married John Boyles. Sarah married Isaac Kittle (1786-1816), and they had 3 children. Absolom married Jane Watts. Isobel married Jacob Coffman (brother of George). Alicy married George Coffman (brother of Jacob). Hannah married Lunceford Jones. Lydia married George Hardin (1802-), a cousin, and they had 3 children. Nestor Jr. married Margaret Peggy Stalnaker (1825-911), and they had 4 children. Agnes married Richard Boyles (1805-1873), and they had 5 children. Nestor and Kate Hardin had several grandchildren.

Nestor and Kate were first cousins as were her parents. Katie Hardin was a sister of the famous Benjamin Hardin of Kentucky and a cousin of Martin Davis Hardin. Nestor and Kate were both grandchildren of Maj. John Hardin. They married in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and came to Randolph County, Virginia, now Barbour County, West Virginia.

Kate Hardin was issued land Warrant No. 2602 for 80£, 14 Feb 1780. The land was surveyed 30 Aug 1781 and was for 200 acres on Soverns Run [probably Servants Run today] of Cartwright Crk. This location was the same as her father's and sister's land. Patent issued 1 Jun 1782, Book G, p.45. Kentucky grant, Book 1, p.62.

Kate died in Barbour County, VA - now Barbour County, WV in 1840. Just saw a publication on ancestry "Hardin Family from the Kentucky Historical Society". This article says that Nestor and his wife, Catherine Hardin settled in Hardins Cove in Randolph County, Virginia (now called Barbour County, WV) and both are buried in the Martins Graveyard in the Coves in Barbour County, WV.

in the book "History of Mt Morris School, Church and Cove District" by George A. Shingleton this paragraph: Nestor Hardin Sr was a native of Pennsylvania, and came from Fayette County, PA to Barbour County (then Randolph), West Virginia (then Virginia). He was a farmer and one of the first settlers of Cove District. He was never affiliated with any church. His death occurred at the age of 81, and he is buried in the Martin Grave yard in Cove District. He married Katie Hardin, a sister of the noted Ben Hardin of Kentucky. She was buried at the side of her husband. An estate settlement of Randolph County shows his will probated November 1839, with the following devisees: Absolem, Alsy, Nester Jr., Lyda Hardin, Agnes Boyles (our 2nd great grandmother), Sarah Kittle, Isabel Coffman, & Julia Mole.
