Carey S. Bass
Services for Carey S. Bass, of Vidalia, were held today (Wednesday), July 7, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Huey Tarpley and Rev. Frank Bass officiating. Burial will be in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Bass was born July 11, 1910 in Olla to Carey Thomas and Bertie Rosella Ratcliff Bass. He died July 4, 1999 in his residence.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, where he was an active member of the Adult Four Men's Sunday School Class. He was retired from Johns Manville in 1974 after 26 years of service. Mr. Bass was a World War II Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eula Mae Cobb Bass, brothers, Warren Bass and Blanchard Bass and an infant sister, Mary Helen Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Wright Bass of Vidalia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Richard Lattanzi of Arlington, TX, Faye and James Padilla of Fort Worth, TX; grandchilren, Paul and Christie Lattanzi, John and Nicki Ortiz and Melissa and Dewayne Camby; great grandchildren, Brandon Camby, Nathan Ortiz and Miranda Lattanzi; sisters Idell Lucas of Pollock, Hallye Doshier of Jonesville and Ercell Evans of Orange, TX.
Pallbearers will be James E. Jones, Bill Ward, Eldon Stigall, Roy Rushing, Charlie Randall, Royce Whittington. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Adult Four Men's Sunday School Class.
Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Vidalia.
