Darrell Milton Easterly of Spokane Valley died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home from a heart attack. He was born on March 11, 1935 in Lake Stevens, Washington to Gwin and Hazel Easterly with his two older brothers. He grew up in Plains, Washington where he attended public school. After high school, he served two years in the US Army where he was stationed at Ft Meade, Maryland. He met his wife of 53 years while stationed there. He returned to Everett, WA with her after his term in the US Army. He then attended the University of Washington where he received his Bachelor degree and had his first son. After college, he worked for the Shell Oil Company, which moved him and his family to Spokane, WA for a short time, and he had his second son. Shell Oil then moved him to Boise, ID. He then left Shell Oil, to work his own branch of E.K. Williams in Spokane, WA, an accounting service for gas service stations in Eastern Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho with his wife. He sold this business and returned to his first love, auto sales. He and his family enjoyed boating in the greater inland empire on its many lakes and rivers. He and his wife subsequently joined the Spokane Yacht Club. He was elected to the board of trustees as their treasurer and subsequently served as a financial advisor. He also served as the treasurer of Temple Beth Shalom and on the Temple's committee that prepares the deceased for burial (Hevrah Kadisha). As his sons grew older, he obtained his private pilot's license and subsequently extended his expertise into aviation and real-estate by dealing in airplanes and various properties. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, working on his older son's restoration of his boat and supporting the Spokane aviation community. He is survived by his wife Ann and two sons, Connie and Duane.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Mount Nebo cemetery on July 23, 2012 at 11 am.
