Evarist W. Bast, age 81, of 1411 N. Seventh St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening,
March 22, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at the
Pfeffer Funeral Home, and 1 p.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Officiating
at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Matt Simonar with burial to follow
at Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born May 29, 1916, in Manitowoc, son of the late Magnus Leonard and Marie
Schilling Bast. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World
War II. He married the former Margaret R. Lax on September 9, 1944, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Alverno. He was employed at Evergreen Cemetery and Lakeside
Packing until his retirement. Evarist was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret R. Bast, Manitowoc; one son, Michael Bast,
Manitowoc. He is further survived by three sisters-in-law, Lois Bast, Two Rivers,
Mildred Kaufman and her husband, Raymond, Manitowoc, Gertrude Lax, Manitowoc;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one
daughter, Kathryn (Bast) Martin; three brothers, Leonard, John and Eugene one
sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Dr. Eugene McCully; three sisters-in-law,
Hildegarde, Irene and Vesta Bast.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday (TONIGHT),
where a prayer service will be held at 6 p.m., led by Deacon Ken Nelesen.
