Evangeline L. Bast, age 93, of 1235 South 24th St. Manitowoc, died Friday,
December 30, 2011 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Evangeline was born March 23, 1918 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edwin and
Clara Johnson Braunel. Evangeline married Alfred N. Bast in 1936. He preceded
her in death in 1972. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Evangeline worked for many years with her son Merwin in his store Bast Jewelers
in the 1970's in Two Rivers, and later the Thought of You Gift Shop. Evangeline
had a great interest and love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She
was a faithful visitor of family and friends at Shady Lane Nursing Home over the
last half century. She also enjoyed nurturing a large garden of flowers every
summer that people would stop and admire.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (Richard) Riederer,
Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Pat Bast, Two Rivers; six grandchildren,
Jeffrey (Stephanie) Bast, California; Scott (Rhoni) Bast, Illinois; Daniel
(Nancy) Bast, Oconomowoc; Michelle (Michael) Lamp, Arizona; Kimberly (Gregg)
Weiner, Illinois; and Michael (Heidi) Riederer, Colorado; thirteen
great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jake and Sidney Bast, California; Justin
Meister, Arizona; Bailee and Colton Bast, Illinois; Emma and Ethan Bast,
Oconomowoc; Bradley, Brandon, and Brent Weiner, Illinois; Nathan Lamp, Arizona;
and Jensen Riederer, Colorado; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Bast, Manitowoc.
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Alfred; one son, Merwin Bast; three brothers and
two sisters-in-law, Ray Braunel, Lenert (Edna Mae) Braunel, and Arthur (Anne)
Braunel; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Edna (August) Frey, Blanch
(Ewald) Sonnevik, Luella Braunel, Ruth (Hans) Gulseth, and Edith (Arthur)
Jarosh; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Edward (Libby) Bast,
Bernard (Emily) Bast, Fred Bast, and Vincent (Laura Ruth) Bast.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St.
Francis of Assisi Parish – Waldo Site. Rev. Dan Felton will celebrate the Mass
of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and
friends may call on Tuesday, January, 3, 2012 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family
Funeral Home 818 State St. Manitowoc, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will
continue on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at
