851 N. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Friday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where
he had been a patient six days.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc, with the Rev. T. F. Uetzmann officiating. Burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Basken was born June 22, 1875, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late John
and Minnie Glove Basken. He married Sophie Ploeckelman in 1894 in the Town of
Kossuth. The family operated a farm in the Town of Kossuth and at Clover until
retiring 20 years ago. They then resided in Arizona with a daughter, Mrs. Ronald
Mitchell, of Tempe. His wife preceded him in death March 21, 1950. He moved to
Manitowoc two years ago.
Surviving are his two daughters; a sister, Mrs. Clara Ake of Milwaukee; a brother,
Fred of Manitowoc; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until
11 a.m. Tuesday when the casket will be moved to the church to lie in state.
