MRS. BARTLETT DIES SUDDENLY, SUMMER HOME
Wife of Popular North Western Conductor Taken by Heart Attack at Pelican Lake
Mrs. Lena Bartlett, former resident here, and wife of Charles Bartlett, died
suddenly Sunday afternoon at the family summer home at Pelican Lake, the demise
being due to a heart attack. The body will arrive here this evening at 5:30 over
the Chicago and North Western and the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at
2 o’clock with services at the Presbyterian church, Rev. M. S. Weber officiating,
and burial will be at Evergreen.
Mrs. Bartlett, nee Seeger, was born in this city sixty-six years ago, a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seeger, pioneer residents. Her father for many years conducted
a meat market on Commercial street and Mrs. Bartlett received her education in the
public schools of the city. She was married here to Mr. Bartlett forty-five years
ago and the family took up its home at Milwaukee, Mr. Bartlett being employed as a
conductor on the Chicago and North Western, a position which he held until a few
years ago when he retired. Surviving are the husband, one son, Lynn, who was with
the family at Pelican Lake, two brothers, Fred of this city and Harry of Milwaukee
and two sisters, Mrs. A. B. Cooley, living at Kankakee, Ill., and Mrs. W. C. Van
Schaych, Kilbourn, Wis.
Visited Here Last Week
Mrs. Bartlett through her happy disposition made a wide circle of friends and never
lost her touch with the old home town, visiting here frequently. With her son she
had motored here last week, spending Tuesday and Wednesday in the city. Last Friday
they left Milwaukee for Pelican Lake where they were in the habit of spending the
greater part of the summer. Mrs. Bartlett appeared to be in the best of health and
news of death came as a shock to relatives and friends here.
