Mrs. Edward Bartel, 89, resident of the city for more than four score years,
died Saturday evening at the home, 1907 Western avenue. Last Tuesday she fell
while coming downstairs and her condition failed rapidly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m from the Wattawa, Urbanek
and Schlei funeral home, and at 2 o'clock from the First German Evan. Lutheran
church, the Rev. L.H. Koeninger officiating.
Mrs. Bartel, nee Johanna Klug, was born in Germany in 1852 and when a child
accompanied her parents to Manitowoc. She was married here 70 years ago to
Edward Bartel. Mr. Bartel died 19 years ago.
Survivors are three sons, Albert of Milwaukee, Arthur and Charles of this city;
three daughters, Mrs. Alex Zeischold, Mrs. Walter Zeischold, Mrs. Bertha
Schliesleder all of this city; sister, Mrs. William Rudolph, of this city; eight
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home until the hour of the services.
