BAECKMAN DEATH TODAY
Tailor Had Been Ill Here For Only Few Days
After an illness of less than two weeks, August Baeckman, 49, who was engaged
in the tailoring trade here all his life, died early today at the home, 516
North Fourth street. Since the death of his partner Mr. Baeckman conducted
alone the tailoring establishment that bears his name on South Tenth street.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home,
in charge of the Rev. Phipps with interment at Evergreen cemetery.
The deceased was born in this city and after finishing his schooling learned
the tailoring trade. He was employed for a number of years by Frank Linder and
then formed a partnership with Otto Hackbarth. This continued until the death
of the latter.
Mr. Baeckman was married here 2? years ago to Miss Winifred Houghton who
survives with three sons, Bernard, Francis and Elmer and two daughters, Irene
and Ruth, all at home. His mother, Mrs. Louise Baeckman, three sisters, Alvina,
Louisa and Viola and a brother, Walter, all of Manitowoc, also survive.
The remains may be viewed up to the hour of the funeral at the Pfeffer funeral
home.
