Mrs. Lula V. Colden, formerly of Blanchardville, died Wednesday morning, June 6, 1984, in the Lafayette Manor Nursing Home at Darlington. Death followed an extended illness.

Born in Argyle Township, Lafayette County, Nov. 18, 1902, she was the daughter of Riley and Lizzie Phillips Watkins. She attended the Everson rural school.

Her marriage to Garfield E. Colden took place March 13, 1924, in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church parsonage.

They farmed in the Blanchardville area until 1973 when they retired and moved to the village. Mr. Colden passed away Sept. 26, 1977.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Joyce Combs, Anaheim, Calif.; Mrs. Wayne (Shirley) Lausch, Monroe, Mrs. John D. (Leah) Meyer and Mrs. Clayton (Karen) Hauser, both of Argyle, and Mrs. John (Garnett) Hutton, Monona; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Nelson, Argyle; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Garness, four brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Mrs. Colden was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Blanchardville and its ALCW. She was also a member of the Dobson-Johnson American Legion Auxiliary as a Gold Star Mother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9, in the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Ziemer officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville.

The Saether Funeral Home, Blanchardville, was in charge of arrangements.
