Funeral services for Lola Pauline "Polly" Hewitt Bonds, 91, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman and Reverend Aubrey Knox officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. in the Brookside Memorial Park in Houston.
Mrs. Bonds was born November 1, 1920 in Groesbeck, Texas to Charles Henry and Martha Lola (Winters) Hewitt, and died Monday, July 23, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Bonds had resided in Angelina County for the past five years. She was a longtime resident of Houston, where she worked at Duffens Optical for more than 30 years. Mrs. Bonds taught Sunday School for 50 plus years, and was currently a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Grover and Dr. Carol Ann Bonds of San Angelo; daughter and son-in-law, Janice Kaye and Reverend Edwin Aubrey Knox of Lufkin; grandchildren, Paula Catherine DiCenzo and husband Vic DiCenzo, Charles Craig Bonds and wife Monica Ann Wetjen Bonds, Kevin Makenna Knox and wife Allison Reneé Knox, Julie Kaye Johnson and husband John Raymond Johnson; great-grandchildren, Carly Ann Bonds, Macy Ann Bonds, Megan Marie DiCenzo, Allison Carol DiCenzo, Ashley Kaye Johnson, William Aubrey Johnson, Karson Makenna Knox, and Kelsey Reneé Knox; brother, Herbert Byron Hewitt of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Bonds; parents, Charles Henry and Martha Lola Hewitt; sisters, Ester Berniece Harringer, Effie Lavina Dyer, Iris Nellie Arnold, Fannie Louise Pritchett, Zetta Mae Cleveland, and Katherine Ada Moore; and brothers, Fred Josephus Hewitt, Charles Clowe Hewitt, and Walter Trueman Hewitt.
Pallbearers will be Craig Bonds, Kevin Knox, Vic DiCenzo, and John Johnson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lufkin's First Baptist Church, 106 East Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, at the funeral home.
