"Mr. John Loyd Atkinson -
Services for Mr. John Loyd Atkinson, 94, a resident of Ceneterville Health Care Center, who died on Saturday,
August 15, at the center, were heldon Sunday, August 16, at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville.
The service was conducted by Paul Rogers, and was followed by burial in Oakmont Cemetery.
A native of Hickman County, Mr. Atkinson ws the husband of Beatrice B. Quillen Atkinson, and the son of the late
Eva Garrett and Bell Field Atkinson. He was a timberman and a bridge foreman, a World War 1 U. S. Army veteran who served in France, and was a member of the Shipps Bend Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife he leaves two daughters, Helen M. Deen of Columbia and Shirley Shelton of Shipps Bend; five sons, Charles D. Atkinson of Nunnelly, James Pitts Atkinson of Columba, Frank D. Atkinson and Johnny L. Atkinson , both of Shipps Bend, and Richard N. Atkinson of Waverly, eight grandchldren and four great-grandchldren." (end transcription - hmh).
