Aurelia M. Lodes, age 92, of Chilton died on Friday, January 2, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

She was born September 10, 1916 in Charlesburg, daughter of the late Anton & Annie (Bell) Steiner. Aurelia married Norbert J. Lodes on May 24, 1938 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1990. Aurelia was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Christian Women, Eagles Auxiliary, and the Calumet County Homemakers Group. She also volunteered many hours as part of the Calumet Medical Center Auxiliary in Chilton. Aurelia enjoyed socializing; she loved to play Sheepshead and belonged to several card clubs in the area. She and Norbert belonged to a bean-bag team sponsored by the Hadi Club. She golfed in the Women's League at Hickory Hills Country Club where she also waitressed for many years. Aurelia also enjoyed Norbert's passion for fishing and was known to be out no matter the time of year. She was an ardent gardener, but took most pride in her flowers.

Survivors include her children: Ruth Ann (Gerald) Schmitz of Chilton, Edward (Pat) Lodes of Sherwood; Mary Jane Lodes of San Francisco, Kathy Lodes of Weyauwega and significant other, Tom Kleczka; a daughter-in-law: Pat Lodes of Neenah; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother: Eugene (Rosie) Steiner of New Holstein; and 4 sisters-in-law: Lucille Lodes of St. Anna, Dorothy Steiner of Largo, FL, Edna Lodes of Mississippi, and Marion Steiner of New Holstein. Aurelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son: Jerome Lodes; 3 brothers: Erwin Steiner, Elroy (Romilda) Steiner, Herbert Steiner; and a sister: Asella (Leo) Geiser. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2009 and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM when the service will be held. A parish vigil service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home at 7:00 PM. The family would like to thank Linda Bodinger for all of the loving care she had shown to Aurelia as her caregiver. She was her ""angel"", enhancing Aurelia's life with her words, her positive attitude, and all the personal touches she added to her home.
