Joyce Patton Cantrell, 87, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born June 12, 1925, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Bert Wolfe and Sarah Dingus Patton.
Joyce was a member of Pollard Baptist Church and enjoyed many years volunteering for the Community Kitchen in Ashland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Woodrow Cantrell Sr., also preceding her were a son, Gary Steven Cantrell, a daughter, Gwendolyn Elaine Cantrell, brothers Gordon, Joseph, Crockett (David) and Nelson Patton, and a sister, Nellie Adams.
Survivors include her sons, Woodrow Cantrell Jr., of Dover, Del., Woodrow Cantrell III and his wife, Barbara, of Streamwood, Ill., and Matt Cantrell and his wife, Carol, of Ashland, daughters Stephanie Scheid and her husband, David, of Sedalia, Mo., and Judy Cantrell of Elk Grove Village, Ill., grandchildren, Jacqueline McCormick and her husband, Hunter, of Mentor, OH., Amanda Messick-Withers of Sedalia, Jennifer Messick of Kansas City, Mo., Rhonda Applebaum and her husband James of Coatesville, Pa., and Ronald Cantrell of Ocean City, Md., great-grandchildren, Abbigail and Morgan Withers of Sedalia, Sienna, Brayton and Rylan McCormick of Mentor, Ian Applebaum of Coatesville, Christina Bennett of Magnolia, Del., and James Cantrell of Denver, Colo.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Wesley K. Smith.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.
