NUNNS, ORAH EDNA—Orah Edna Nunns was born January 1, 1886, in Chelsea township, Fillmore county, Nebraska. She was the second eldest daughter of Robert Edward and Orah Josephine Hastings, who were among the first to homestead in this section of Nebraska.

She received her early education in a rural elementary school and graduated from Ohiowa high school. Mr. Nunns also graduated from the Geneva Junior Normal School, after which she taught in Nebraska and Wyoming.

She was united in marriage to Fred Nunns of Geneva December 27, 1909, in Denver, Col. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary just prior to Mr. Nunns’ death December 28, 1967.

Mr. and Mrs. Nunns were blessed with five children. One daughter, Dorothy Lucille, died in infancy. The living children are Helen, Mrs. Chet Thorn of San Francisco, Cal.; Edna, Mrs. John A. Freeman of Lincoln, Neb; Edgar D. Nunns of Albuquerque, N. M.; and Frederick A. Nunns of Geneva.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Schupbach of Pacific Grove, Cal., Mrs. Electa Paige of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Omega Yates of Plattsmouth.
Mrs. Nunns was a member of the Chelsea Evangelical United Brethren church. She was active in the Chelsea Woman’s club and other community endeavors.

Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m. Sunday, January 12. Rev. Delano Spitzer officiated. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Good Night and Good Morning.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were John Freeman, Francis Nunns, Frederick A. Nunns Jr., George L. Nunns, Richard Nunns, and Robert Nunns Jr. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
