Elizabeth Morton Gingrich. Adored and loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away quietly while at her home at Lake of the Woods on July 21, 2012.

Elizabeth was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in 1922, grew up in Washington DC, and attended the University of Maryland. As a devoted military wife and mother, she was the heart of the family unit. Family always came first and she ensured the family stayed together through numerous military moves around the world.

Not one to be idle, she was a school volunteer for many years and established the first library for Salem Sayers Baptist Church School in Adkins, Texas. She was recognized by the East Central Independent School District in Texas for her many years of volunteer service. She is remembered for her deep Christian values, love for children and devotion to family. As a foster parent for five years, she and her husband provided a safe and loving home to five children.

Elizabeth is survived by her sweetheart and husband of 65 years, LTC (Ret) Calvin John Gingrich, whom she married on December 25, 1946. She is also survived by two sons, John (Vicki) and David (Corrinn); two daughters, Sherran (Mark) Reif and Patricia (Gary) Frye, who provided them with six grandchildren, Sherie Beth, Christopher, Lisa, Gariann, John Renee, and Journey; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace, Luke, Calvin John, McKenzie, and Emma.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Rev. P.R. Hyde; and her mother Katherine Hyde; one son, Calvin John Gingrich II; a brother, Jack Hyde; and a sister, Myra Ekas.

A private service for the family will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove, VA with burial at Culpeper National Cemetery.
