Della was the daughter of John Wise Council & Nancy (Bailey) Walker.

Della married Wesley Austin "Ned" Walker on September 23, 1903 by Preacher J.T. "Demp" Tabor, at her parents home in Egeria, West Virginia. They were cousins.

Della and Ned were the parents of ten children:

1. Glady Ruth Walker Agee
2. Loie Lindell Walker
3. Lamer Lynett Walker
4. Gladys Ruby Walker Tilley
5. Cozy Dove Walker Lewis
6. Cleo Delta Mills
7. Vicy Vando Walker
8. Rachel Louise Walker Hatcher
9. Vessie Verco Walker
10.Rebecca Lee Walker, died at age 16 months

Della was my grandmother. I never got to meet her, she died 2 1/2 years before I was born. My grandpa, Ned, also died before I was born. Even though I never got to meet them, I could see them in my mothers' eyes and I could hear them in my mothers' voice, and feel their love in my mothers' touch.
We have our Walker family reunion every year on the Egeria mountaintop where Della and Ned raised their family. Their footprints will forever be engraved on top of that mountain.
