Gina Susan McAtee Tinko

Gina Susan McAtee Tinko, age 55, of Edinboro, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at her home after a long illness. Born in Meadville on May 15, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Loma Jean Lewis McAtee. She graduated from General McLane High School in 1974 and from Edinboro University in 1979. For 11 1/2 years until her retirement in 2004, Gina was employed by the State Correctional Institution in Cambridge Springs. Gina was a devoted wife and a loving mother and step-mother. She loved her family very much and will be remembered by them for looking out for the needs of others before her own. Gina also was an avid reader and she enjoyed her precious puppies--Chico, Brandi, Lucky Strike, Kate, and Tiger. In addition to her parents, other family members that are deceased include three brothers-- James, Frank, and William McAtee; and a nephew Shawn. Gina is survived by her husband of 29 years, Edward Tinko; her son, Nicholas Tinko of Edinboro; four step-children-- Brian Tinko of Corry and his friend Cheri, Chris Case and her husband Jim, and Lynn Pannkuk and her friend Kahn, all of Texas, and Kevin Tinko and his wife Kelly of Saegertown; nine grandchildren--Brian Jr., Cody, Jared, Seth, Ashley, Sarah, Jessica, Zachary and Trenton; and three great-grandchildren-- Bradyn, Emma and Tristan. Gina also has two brothers-- Lawrence McAtee and his wife Debby of Utah, and Edward McAtee and his wife Carol of Edinboro; three sisters-- Margaret Shorts and her husband Richard of Edinboro, LaDora Flood and her husband Gary of Ohio, and Kathleen Patterson and her husband David of Edinboro; many nieces and nephews and extended family members. The family would like to recognize and thank Gina's caring nurse and special friend, Carrie Piccinini. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLane Church, 12511 Edinboro Road, Edinboro with a memorial service following at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Brian Kelly. Private burial will be in Lewis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lewis Cemetery, c/o Heather Baron, 5260 Florek Road, Edinboro, PA 16412.
