Theodosia Yates was born in Bucks county, PA., May 15 1828, she died at the home of her son. J.P. Yates, near Eureka on Saturday, March 23, 1913.
She was married in Columbus, Ohio in 1845 to Jacob Yates, whom she survived a little more than a year.
She was the mother of 9 children, 2 of whom died in infancy, and another one, John, who died at 2 years old. Later, there died a son, Charles A Yates and a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Valentine.
4 children survive her,
Mrs Jenny Shireman of Marion, Ia.,
Mrs. Martha Dunlap of Lindsey, CA.,
Edward Yates of Oakland, CA.,
J.P Yates of Eureka.

Mrs. Yates was converted in 1860 and had lived a consistent Christian life ever since.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church all these years and died in the full hope of salvation. Funeral services were held at the Yates home Sunday, conducted by Rev. James of the Baptist church, and the remains were to be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
