Actress. A popular Mouseketeer from the 1960s, she shall be remembered for providing the voices of numerous Disney cartoon characters. Born Merrie Virginia Erlandson, she was raised in Seattle from infancy and early-on evidenced a talent for story telling and animal mimicry. As a young girl she became a fixture on the local kids' radio show "Make Believe" and was to stay with the program when it moved to television in the 1950s while simultaneously earning a degree in drama from the University of Washington. Taking 'Tyler' as a stage name she moved to Los Angeles where she provided the narration for the two Disney albums "Bambi" and "Babes in Toyland" then in the early 1960s was Sally Hansen on "Davey and Goliath". Thru the 1960s Ginny was kept busy as the Head Mouseketeer on the "Mickey Mouse Club" while earning multiple credits including the Girl Squirrels in 1963's "The Sword in the Stone", some barnyard animals in the 1964 classic "Mary Poppins", Polynesia the Parrot from 1967's "Dr. Doolittle", and Jan in the late 1960s series "Space Ghost". Ginny was Sue Richards 'The Invisible Girl' of the late 1970s "The Fantastic Four" and though she continued to appear at Disney themed conventions and autograph shows gradually reduced her schedule. Last heard as Miz Possum in 1992's "Brer Rabbit's Christmas" she moved back to Seattle in 1994. When inducted into the Disney Legends in 2006 her talent for animal immitation was said to be undiminished; she lived out her days in a nursing facility and died of the effects of advanced age. At her death she could still be heard on her movies and in the bird chorus at Disneyland's Tiki Room.
