Death of Mrs. Strother Vandiver
Mrs. Lucy Vandiver, wife of Strother Vandiver, who has been suffering from paralysis for some time, died on Wednesday night at ten o’clock. The funeral services were conducted at the family residence, two miles southwest of this city, by Rev. Downey, of Taylorsville, Thursday afternoon, at 4 o’clock, and were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Mrs. Vandiver has been a sufferer for years. Seven years ago the left side of her body became paralyzed from which she partly recovered. Two years ago she became afflicted with dropsy from which she has been a constant sufferer. About two weeks ago the right side of the body received a paralytic stroke and, with the gangrene which began some ten days ago left her entirely helpless, and a great sufferer. The family had had no hopes of her recovery for several days. She died at the age of seventy-seven and for years had been a member of the Tennessee church, south of Franklin.

She was about seventy-seven years of age and is numbered among the early settlers of this county. Mrs. Vandivier’s death takes away a most excellent Christian lady and one whose place in the family circle cannot be filled. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock from the family residence.
