MELBA LEE TABER VAUGHAN, 96 of Houston passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in Houston. She was born on January 29, 1910 to Parents: Dr. Beriah Augusta Taber and Odelia Agnes Trahan in Jennings, LA. She was a resident of Anahuac for over 10 years and has lived in Houston for the past sixty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Clifton Brown Vaughan; Sisters: Willah May Harris, Emma Nunez, Margaret Dasch and Augusta (Broussard) Porter; Brothers: Earnest C. Taber and John William Taber and Grandson: John T. Vaughan.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac and while living there and taking the grandchildren to raise, she became involved in several social groups, the Methodist Church and the children's activities. After moving back to Houston, she joined the King Strings Ukulele Band and was active for ten years.

She is survived by her Son: Thomas Taber Vaughan; Grandchildren: Valerie Lee Brunson and husband Alan, and Victor Conner Vaughan; Great-Grandchildren: Clifton Gene Brunson, Brittany Lee Brunson, Patrick Alan Brunson, Jennifer Tessa Vaughan and Lance William Vaughan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Melba Lee Vaughan will be held on Thursday June 1, 2006 at 2:00 P. M. at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac with the Dr. Daniel O'Reagan officiating. Burial will follow at the Anahuac Cemetery in Anahuac. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at 2:00 P. M.
