Mavis Irene Reid Tucker was a 4th generation Californian born in Sutter County to Lawrence Elwood Reid and Ruth Irene Coyle Reid. She was the 3rd of 4 children ... all daughters. The family moved to Contra Costa County when Mavis was 2. She attended schools in Concord, Walnut Creek & Lafayette, graduating from Acalanes High School in 1945. She married Merle Guy Tucker on November 20th, 1948 at the Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek. They had met at Eddie's Waffle Shop in Walnut Creek which was owned by the Reids and where Mavis worked as a waitress. Mavis & Merle raised 2 daughters in Concord. After 50+ years in the same house, Mavis moved to an assisted living facility in Walnut Creek where she lived until her death. She is now inurned in Redding Memorial Park, just steps away from her great-grandfather, Alexander H. Reid and other members of the Reid family.
